ABOUT US
Andrew is a third generation Cobbler. His father, back in the 60’s and 70’s, had an established workshop on Hoxton Street, in the heart of London. He worked closely with designers of the era, becoming a prominent figure in the trade and, in the 80's, worked closely with the new recruits coming out of what was then Cordwainers College, now known as The London College of Fashion. They included Patrick Cox, Emma Hope and John Moore.
During that time Andrew was learning his craft and, by the early 90’s, had the opportunity to work at 'Gina', a prestigious London design company, where he stayed for eight years. It was here that he honed his skill and developed a keen eye for detail, which are behind the passion and knowledge that drive him today.
Andrew and Angela took over The Shoe Box in 2004 making it a successful, prominent and well-respected business in Haslemere.

Be it a simple job like shortening a belt to re-stitching a seam on a handbag, the team relish a challenge.
Shoe Redesign
Andrew was once asked to alter a pair of pointed toe Jimmy Choo court shoes as the customer wanted to repurpose them. He redesigned the shoe, turning them into peep toes with a rounded front. The customer was so pleased with them that she has been using The Shoe Box ever since.
Alterations to Calf Length Boots
We regularly alter the fitting of calf length boots, taking them in or out.
Replacement of Buckle Elastic
Another common repair is replacing buckle elastic on sandals, which we do sympathetically to match the design of the footwear.
Large Stock of Leather
We stock all types of leather in wonderful colours so are usually able to match or repair accurately. In many cases we can create an invisible repair to items such as handbags or shoes. We also stock a large range of elastic as well as buckles, rivets, d rings, ski hooks, zips, eyelets and other related items so we can generally replace most items.
